Must read

Pennsylvania’s total income for all the gambling activities in the state was $464.5m in January 2023, and this was up 18% year-on-year. Sports betting in the state also showed very good numbers for January 2023.

Growth in slots

Pennsylvania online gambling includes sports wagering, online slots, retail slots and table games. Parx Casino improved its January 2022 revenue of $51.8m with $55.5m in January 2023. It was one of the top five slot machine operators, bringing in $32.6m.

The state’s online casino apps topped $160m in revenue in January for the fourth straight month. The total from retail slot machines in January was $202.2m, which is a 20% year-on-year rise.

Table games revenue

In addition to casino slots, PA online casinos offer a number of table games, including the option to play with a live dealer. Wind Creek Bethlehem was the top table games operator in the state, followed by Parx Casino. Playing casino games is popular in Pennsylvania, and the state generated $83.9m from table games, with an amount of $13.7m collected in taxes.

Sports betting revenue

The online market for sports betting in Pennsylvania opened in 2019 and is now one of the top five sports betting markets in the U.S. in terms of revenue. PA sportsbooks recorded strong numbers to start 2023. The $772.3m handle in January was up from December 2022 but down from January 2022. Revenue for January was just around the $58m mark for the month. Despite the lack of year-on-year growth, the January results were very solid.

Pennsylvania bettors who rooted for the Philadelphia Eagles were lucky. This year, the Philadelphia Eagles performed well during the playoffs and booked their spot at the Super Bowl, where they met the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Eagles getting to the Super Bowl no doubt supported good returns for sportsbooks. After an early lead, the Eagles were outscored in the second half and lost 38-35 to the Chiefs.

Many legal and licensed online gambling sites

Pennsylvanians have access to many legal and licensed online gambling sites. Whether they want to play slots, table games or prefer sports betting, they have many options for online play. Due to the popularity of mobile betting, most bets were placed through mobile devices.

A choice gambling destination

Overall, Pennsylvania’s gaming performance is healthy, and it often even outperforms the neighboring state of New Jersey. It may come as a surprise that visiting Pennsylvania to play at physical casinos is popular, and it is only second to Nevada as a choice of gambling destination. Visitors also have the benefit of enjoying the amazing scenery and many attractions when they visit Pennsylvania.
